The Election Commission (EC) has warned Presidential candidates of taking action against those who violate elections laws.
A senior EC official said that candidates have been strictly warned against committing offences in line with the Presidential Elections Act, including threatening rival candidates during the run-up to the election.
The official added that the EC would take legal action against candidates who flout laws.
This year's presidential election on November 16 will see a record number of 35 candidates contesting the poll.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.

The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
