Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma has called for a report on certain letters allegedly issued by the Education Ministry to enrol students in violation of election laws.
The Education Ministry in a statement said 427 letters were issued between October 7 and November 26 during the previous government in the run-up to the presidential poll.
Preliminary inquiries have shown that the signatures of certain ministry secretaries had been forged in the letters.
Accordingly, Education Minister Alahapperuma has instructed a ministerial level investigative panel to submit a report in this regard within three weeks.
