The Education Ministry has rejected claims that some G C E Ordinary Level (O/L) candidates were obstructed from sitting the exam as they came wearing Hijab (head cover).
Social media reports claimed that in a Kekirawa exam centre, some candidates had not been allowed to sit the exam due to their Islamic garment.
Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said the ministry and the Examinations Department had conducted an inquiry and found that no such incident had taken place.
The O/L examination began on Monday and will continue till December 12. Exams are held in more than 4900 centres.
