Eight prison officers attached to the Kegalle Prison have been interdicted after a suspected drug dealer escaped.
The suspect had an ongoing court case in Mathugama and was transferred from Kegalle to Colombo on November 17. During his transfer the suspect had managed to escape.
The Assistant Prison Superintendent who was appointed to investigate into the incident had handed over a report citing that the suspect managed to escape due to the carelessness of prison officials.
The missing inmate is a notorious drug racketeer.
