Eight treasure hunters nabbed

Eight suspects who were allegedly engaged in treasure hunting have been arrested by the Weeragula Police yesterday (31).  

Police Media Unit said police had received a tip-off that a group of persons were engaged in treasure hunting at Pallethuththiripitiya last afternoon. Accordingly officers conducted a raid and arrested eight suspects along with a number of digging tools used for treasure hunting. 

The arrested suspects are aged between 24 to 58 years. They are residents of Yakkala, Gampaha and Ambagaspitiya. They are due to be produced before the Attanagalla Magistrate's Court today. Weeragula Police are investigating.
