Eleven schools in the Anuradhapura, Mihintale and Thanthirimale areas will be closed in order to provide lodging for Police and security personnel arriving for special security duties during the Poson celebrations due to take place in these areas.
The Department of Education of the North Central Province (NCP) has decided to close schools from June 13 - June 18.
Accordingly, the Anuradhapura Central College, Swarnapali Balika National School, Walisinghe Harischandra Maha Vidyalaya, St. Joseph's College Anuradhapura and Vivekananda Maha Vidyalaya are among the schools which will be closed.
Mihintale Maha Vidyalaya, and Kammalakkulama Vidyalaya belonging to the Galenbidunuwewa Educational Zone will also remain closed during this period.
In addition, Zahira College Anuradhapura, Maha Bodhi Vidyalaya, Devanampiyatissa Maha Vidyalaya, and Thanthirimale Wimalagnana College will also be closed until June 18, the Education Department's Provincial office said.
