Embilipitiya death: Sumith Prasanna's body exhumed

Officials this morning started exhuming the body of 29-year-old Sumith Prasanna Jayawardene, who died from his injuries following a confrontation with police Embilipitiya on January 4.

The exhumation is being carried out following a court order as it was directed that a second post-mortem examination be conducted on the body.

Sumith Prasanna was killed after a fall from a three-storey building. His family has maintained that police officers pushed him off the building while police claimed at the time that the deceased jumped from it in a bid to evade police.
