The Emergency Regulations in the country will be extended by a further month for the last time, United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) parliamentarian Mahinda Amaraweera said.
Addressing a press briefing, the parliamentarian noted that the Emergency Regulations would be extended owing to certain requests made by foreign embassies and some schools.
Mr. Amaraweera, attending the press briefing as a respresentative of the President, said the security forces have informed the President that the situation in the country has been brought under control.
However, he stressed that the country's attention will not be diverted from security at any point.
President Maithripala Sirisena had imposed Emergency Regulations in the country in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks. It was extended last month.
