The European Union on Tuesday expressed concern over the recent attacks on undergraduates and other incidents as issues towards regaining trade concessions.
EU Delegation head David Daly told the post business session of the Apparel Exporters AGM in Colombo that as per attacks on undergraduates by the police they would be awaiting the reaction of the government in this regard.
Moreover, he pointed out that following the recent meeting by EU delegates with families of disappeared persons, state authorities had questioned these families on what was asked of them.
He questioned as to why this is still happening in Sri Lanka and were issues that need to be discussed with the government.
Mr. Daly said that "these examples raise questions." Sri Lanka is hoping to regain lost GSP+ concessions in the EU next year. (SD)
