A former Dimbulagala Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman arrested for allegedly levelling death threats against a monk, has been granted bail today (Nov 8).
Jagath Samarawickrama, had been arrested today for threatening Ven. Kimbulwane Seelananda Thero, the chief monk of Suriyadeva Raja Maha temple.
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said the suspect had levelled threats after the monk refused to participate in a political rally in view of the presidential election.
The suspect had been granted bail after being produced before the Dehiattakandiya Magistrate’s Court.
