Former Health Ministry Secretary P S M Charles was sworn in as Governor of the Northern Province today (Dec 30).
She once served as the Director General of the Customs Department before being appointed as Health Secretary under the current government.
Ms Charles will be the first woman to be Governor of the Northern Province.
The governors for the other eight provinces were sworn in previously.
