Former State Pharmaceuticals Corporation Chairman Mohamed Rumy has been remanded until January 6, 2020, in connection to a controversial news briefing.
Rumy was produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court following his arrest after surrendering to the Criminal Investigations Department today (Dec 31).
He is accused of paying two individuals for appearing at a controversial news conference organised by Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne during the run-up to the presidential poll.
The news briefing was attended by two persons which included an individual claiming to be a "white van" driver during alleged abductions before 2015.
The Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday imposed a travel ban on the accused.
