A new labelling system to identify registered liquor brands will be introduced by the Excise Department from May onwards this year.
The new label will comprise a QR code that could be scanned using a special mobile app designed by the Excise Department.
The QR code will be linked to a database operated by the Excise Department and if scanned, would reveal the details of the brand if it has been registered at the Department.
The new label will be introduced by the Excise Department across all foreign liquor brands being imported into the country and would be used for local brands therafter.
