Three suspects with 110 kilos of heroin have been apprehended by Excise Department officials from the Wellawatte and Piliyandala area.
The Excise Department's Special Unit arrested two suspects with 10 kilograms of heroin in Wellawatte. Upon information received from the arrested suspects the officials of the Excise department were able to apprehend another suspect with a further 100 kilograms of heroin in a house in Piliyandala.
Officers of the Excise Department belive that the stock of heroin could have been brought to the country via Negombo by sea several days ago. The stock of heroin is valued at more than Rs 110 million.
