A consignment of 30,000 cigarettes held illegally was detected in Negombo by the Excise Department. The cigarettes valued at Rs 2 million was detected in the raid.
The cigarettes produced in a foreign country had the duty free label. The suspect is due to be produced before the Assistant Commissioner of Excise P.B Dharmakeerthi for further inquiry and action against him.
