Minister Ravi Karunanayake has said that abolishing the executive presidency was vital to establish democracy in the country.
He made these remarks while speaking to the media after paying homage at the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple and meeting with the Mahanayake chief prelates yesterday (Feb 25).
Minister Karunanayake emphasised that the President and the Prime Minister had agreed to abolish the executive presidency once they came into power.
"The time has now come to change this system," the Minister of Power and Energy said.
