‘Exercise Mitra Shakthi - VII’, a two-week joint military exercise between the Indian Army and the Sri Lanka Army began yesterday (Dec 2).
The Army Headquarters said 120 Sri Lankan and Indian military personnel each will take part in the exercise at the Kumaon Regiment camp premises in Pune, India.
‘Exercise Mitra Shakthi’ has been held annually between both countries since 2012. Sri Lanka has hosted the exercise thrice while India has hosted it on four occasions.
The programme aims to share knowledge on military tactics, counter terrorism practices, simulated attacks on terrorist hideouts, suicide bombing, and use of improvised explosive devices.
