Two persons have died following an explosion which occured near the Dehiwela Zoo, Director of the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital Asela Gunawardena said.
The vicitms have been identified as a male and a female, he said.
Explosion reported near the Dehiwela Zoo
An explosion has been reported in close proximity to the Dehiwela zoo a short while ago.
It is reported that the explosion had occured at a lodge in the vicinity of the zoo.
The victims of the incident have been rushed to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital in order to receive treatment.
The amount of damages due to the explosion has not been identified as of yet.
However, the Dehiwela Zoo has been closed off following the explosion, Dammika Malsinghe, Director General of the Dehiwela Zoological Garden said.
