The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) in the Extraordinary Gazette No.2154/19, ordered a maximum retail price on several varieties of rice with effect from Dec 19.
Accordingly, the maximum retail price of White Samba, steamed/boiled, (excluding Keeri Samba and Suduru Samba) shall be Rs. 98 per kilogramme.
The maximum retail price of White Nadu and Red Nadu, boiled/steamed, (excluding Mottaikarupan and Attakari) will be Rs 98 per kilogramme.
The order came into effect from Dec 19, 2019.
Acting under the powers vested in it by Section 20(5) of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, No. 09 of 2003, the Consumer Affairs Authority orders that no producer, distributor or trader shall sell, expose or offer for sale or display for sale the following varieties of rice above the Maximum Retail Prices given, the extraordinary gazette notification said.
