A farmer who was unable to sell his produce has destroyed 10,000 kilos of pumpkins which were cultivated with a view to earn a profit during the Avurudu season.
The farmer who hails from the Moragolla, Galewela area cultivated five acres of pumpkins this year.
However, he told local media that he was forced to destroy the crop since he could not sell them despite engaging in several attempts to do so.
It is reported that producers are finding it difficult to sell a kilogram of pumpkin even at a minimum of Rs 10 at the Dambulla Economic Centre.
