Fifteen people were injured during a fire that broke out last morning at a coir manufacturing company in Kuliyapitiya.
Police officers who were alerted regarding the fire had taken swift measures to deploy fire brigades from the Kuliyapitiya, Meegamuwa, Kurunegala and Halawatha fire service departments.
According to the Police, 10 males and five females had suffered burn injuries and were admitted to the Kuliyapitiya hospital.
The loss due to the fire has not been estimated as of yet.
Meanwhile, another fire broke out in the early hours of yesterday at a leading furniture outlet in Boralesgamuwa.
The fire was contained by police officers, area residents, and fire brigades belonging to the Dehiwela-Mount Lavinia municipal councils.
Boralesgamuwa police are carrying out further investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
