A group of 57 Sri Lankan housemaids who were subjected to abuse by their employers in Kuwait arrived in the country today (Apr 1).
The group of nine males and 48 females had landed at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 6:15 am on SriLankan flight UL-230.
It is reported that the migrant workers were questioned by the Sri Lankan embassy in Kuwait prior to their arrival.
However, following the arrival of the workers, the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau had taken steps to provide transport to the group to their respective homes by providing them a transport allowance as well.
