A fire has broken out at a forest reserve in Budugallena, Buttala at around 4 am today (Mar 29), police said.
At present, over 10 acres of land have been destroyed due to the fire which has not been doused as of yet.
Police, Air Force and Army personnel are currently engaging in efforts to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading across other parts of the reserve.
Meanwhile, another fire had broken out at a forest reserve in Polpithigama, Kurunegala around 6 pm yesterday.
According to the police, nearly 10 acres of lands had been destroyed as a result of this incident.
However, so far no casualties have been reported from both fires, police noted adding that further investigations are being carried out at the forest reserve.
