A fire broke out at a building which is being constructed within the premises of the United States embassy in Galle Road, Kollupitiya earlier today (Jan 12).
Four fire brigades and 12 firefighters were deployed to douse the fire, the Fire and Emergency service of the Colombo Municipal Council said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
