Firefighters managed to douse a fire which broke out on an aircraft earlier today (Dec 26) at the Mattala International Airport.
Accordingly, the airliner that was engulfed in flames was identified as a cargo plane called CVK 043.
It is reported that the airplane had reached the Mattala airport earlier today following its departure from Thailand yesterday.
Black smoke is reported to have been seen from one of its engines when the plane with a seven-member flight crew was about to leave for Oman.
However, no casualties have been reported. Investigations to determine the cause of the fire are currently underway.
