The Fisheries Department has instructed fishermen not to venture into sea until tomorrow noon considering the current bad weather condition prevails across the country.
According to the Department of Meteorology, sea areas extending from Kankasanturai (KKS) to Hambantota via Mannar, Colombo and Gallecan be very rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be rough at times.
“There is a possibility that near shore sea areas off the coast extending from Beruwala to Hambantota via Galle, may experience surges due to the effect of swell waves, having 2.0 – 2.5m height (this is not the height of nearshore waves),” the weather forecast said.
Naval and fishing communities and those who are living in coastal areas are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
