Four flights were diverted to the Mattala Airport due to inclement weather at Katunayake, a spokesman for the Mattala Airport told Times Online.
SriLankan flights UL 315, UL 365 and UL 303 were heading towards the BIA from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore respectively before they were diverted to the Mattala Airport.
A Qatar Airways flight UL 654 from Qatar was also diverted to the Mattala airport.
Meanwhile, flight UL 140 which had left the Madurai Airport in India expecting to touchdown in Sri Lanka, had returned to the Madurai airport, a spokesman for the BIA said.
