Five more persons believed to have been involved in the killing of two persons in Madampitiya have been arrested in Hunupitiya, Wattala today (Aug 16).
Police said the suspects had been taken into custody by the Special Task Force (STF) while attempting to flee the area in a three wheeler in a bid to evade arrest.
Meanwhile, three individuals who were arrested yesterday in connection with the killing have been remanded until August 23 after being produced before the Colombo Magistrate's court.
Yesterday, two persons identified as Sampath Niroshan alias 'Anamalu Ranga' and Mohamed Imran had died after being stabbed in the vicinity of the Madampitiya cemetry.
It is believed that the attack had been carried out due to an underworld gang rivalry.
