Five persons including a member of Thanamalvila Pradeshiya Sabha representing Sri Lanka Podhujana Peramuna (SLPP) were remanded untill April 16 by Embilipitiya Magistrate Courts today over sexual assault of a 12 year old girl mentally challenged girl in Giriwewa.
All five suspects aged between 17 to 70 were produced before the Embilipitiya Judge Lakmini Vidanagamage today and remanded till April 16 over the incident. The SLPP Pradeshiya Sabha member who was evading arrest for days was arrested by police yesterday.
The victim is currently admitted to Hambantota General hospital for medical treatment.
