Colombo Archbishop His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has said that foreign countries must not be allowed to intervene into the internal affairs of Sri Lanka.
Addressing an event at a Catholic institute in Negombo yesterday (Aug 24), the Cardinal observed that foreign intervention could not be prevented if divisions exist in society.
He noted that it was unfortunate to see emphasis being drawn on grounds to create divisions between the people despite the ample reasons available to unite.
Italian Archbishop His Eminence Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti was also among the dignitaries who attended the event.
