A film crew comprising 18 foreign nationals have been penalised for shooting a film in Sri Lanka on a tourist visa.
The crew was arrested while filming a scene in Maharagama yesterday (Apr 11) after which they were handed over to the National Film Corporation (NFC).
They were fined Rs 500,000 each and banned from shooting films in Sri Lanka for a period of three years.
Meanwhile, the NFC will take measures to produce the suspects before the Immigration Department for breaching visa regulations.
