Former CJ acquitted in assets case

Former Chief Justice Dr Shirani Bandaranayake was acquitted of all charges and released today by the Colombo Chief Magistrate in a case filed against her by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

The Bribery Commission had filed the case against Dr. Bandaranayake over her alleged failure to accurately declare her assets and liabilities.

The former CJ was acquitted and released after the Bribery Commission withdrew its petition.
