Former Director-General of Customs Jagath P. Wijeweera and former Additional Director General of Customs, Tharaka Seneviratne were ordered to be arrested and produced before court by the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court today (Sept 19).
The two former Customs Officials were accused of releasing 8kg of confiscated gold from the custody of the Customs Department in order to carry out treasure enshrinement in the base ring of the ‘Sandahiru Maha Seya’.
Colombo Fort Magistrate, Ranga Dissanayake ordered the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) to arrest and produce the two suspects before court.
