President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday (Jan 09) appointed the former Governors of the Northern and Sabaragamuwa provinces as Chairman's of two state institutions.
Accordingly, Reginald Cooray - the former Governor of the North, was appointed as the Chairman of National Gem and Jewellery Authority.
Niluka Ekanayake, the former Governor of Sabaragamuwa was appointed as the Chairman of the State Timber Corporation.
The appointments were made at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
