Former Director of Military Intelligence, Major General (Rtd.) Amal Karunasekara, who was arrested yesterday by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), was remanded in custody till April 18 by the Colombo Additional Magistrate today.
The former officer was arrested in connection with the 2008 abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyahr.
At the time of his abduction and assault, Mr Noyahr was serving as the Deputy Editor of The Nation newspaper.
