Former minister Batty Weerakoon has passed away today (Oct 7), the United Left Front said in a statement.
Mr Weerakoon was a former leader of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP), and the General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers Congress.
His remains lie at his residence at Ananda Rajakurana Mawatha. The final rites will take place at the Borella cemetery on Oct 10 (Thursday).
