The assistant police officer of the Mannar police who was arrested yesterday (April 1) over the abduction of a suspect in police custody has been remanded until April 11.
The order was announced when the police officer, Upul Alawatte, was produced before the Kesbewa Magistrates Ruchira Weliwatte today (Apr 02).
Mr. Alawatte, a former OIC of the Piliyandala police was arrested over the abduction of a man identified as Sunanda Kandamby while he was in custody of the Piliyandala police on December 31, 2008.
