The foundation stone was laid today (18) for the construction of the country's first ever factory dedicated towards producing insulin for diabetic patients.
The foundation stone for the factory was laid at the Koggala free trade zone.
The factory, which is an investment of Rs 3.5 billion, is scheduled to be completed within two years. It is part of the programme initiated by Pharmaceutical Production, Supply and Regulation State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana to promote manufacturing of pharmaceutical drugs within the country.
