Four economic corridors will be established in Sri Lanka according to the National Physical Plan (NPP), Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said.
Addressing an event today (Apr 09), the Minister said that the first economic corridor will be between Colombo and Trincomalee and would see the implementation of projects in the Ambepussa, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, and Trincomalee areas.
The second one, he said, would be between Hikkaduwa, Galle until Tissamaharama while the third would be located between Jaffna and Kilinochchi.
The Minister of Western Development and Megapolis proceeded to say that infrastructure developments would take place in the areas located between the Valaichchenai and Ampara economic corridoor as well.
Further, he emphasised that a special plan would be set-up to carry out projects in the Kandy and Anuradhapura districts due to the absence of an economic corridoor between these areas.
