Four election department officials were injured in a accident when their jeep collided with the clock tower today afternoon, provincial sources said. A senior officer in charge of polling center and two of his officers had minor injuries. They have reported to the Watawala police station and handed over the ballot boxes. The Watawala police has taken alternative steps to send the ballot boxes to the polling centre. The polling centre in Minuwandeniya is the long distanced centre from Nuwara Eliya.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
