Four imprisoned over Polgolla bus bombing of 2008

Four individuals were sentenced to 10 years in prison to be completed in five years over their involvement in the bombing of a passenger bus in Kandy in 2008.

The defendants pleaded guilty when the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court today.

High Court Judge Sampath Abeykoon sentenced the four defendants to 10 years imprisonment to be completed within 5 years and also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000.

The Attorney General had filed the case against the individuals, under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), for the bombing of a passenger bus and killing 3 individuals in Polgolla area in Kandy, in 2008.
