Four students drowned during educational tour in Trinco

Four male students from a school in Badulla drowned while bathing in Medawachchiya tank in Gomarankadawala area in Tricomalee yesterday evening, Police said.

The deceased were among a group of 86 grade 10 students from Hali-ela Science College, Badulla who were on an educational tour to Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa. The students were accompanied by eight teachers.

Police said another three students were rescued by security forces and villagers. Bodies of the four male students are lying in Gomarankadawala Hospital.
