Fours suspects including the Anuradhapura Mayor and the former Chairman of the North Central Provincial Council have been remanded until June 24 in a case filed against them.
The suspects had allegedly caused damages worth Rs 3 million to a United National Party (UNP) Public Relations Officer's residence in Anuradhapura in 1999.
H.P. Somadasa - the Mayor, T.M.R. Siripala - former Chairman of the North Central Provincial Council, Saman Nilmini - former Chairman of the Rajanganaya Pradeshiya Sabha, and Jagath Chandrasiri - a Grama Niladhari officer are the suspects in the case.
They had surrendered through their attorney before the Tambuttegama Magistrate's Court. The case is being heard before Tambuttegama Additional Magistrate Pushpani Wickremesinghe.
