A French national who attempted to smuggle a gold biscuit worth Rs 8 million had been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport upon arrival yesterday (Jul 4).
The suspect, a 48-year old had reached Sri Lanka on a transit flight from Oman after taking off from France, Customs Spokesman Lal Ariyaratne said.
The gold biscuit weighing one kilo had been seized from his travelling bag while he was about to leave the airport, Mr. Ariyaratne noted.
