The Colombo High Court today (Jun 13) announced that further examination of witness statements in a case against former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage will be taken up on October 15.
Mr. Aluthgamage has been accused of purchasing a house worth Rs 27 million in Kynsey Road, Colombo 07 using funds acuqired through illegal means.
The case is being heard before High Court judge Pradeep Hettiarachchi.
During today's hearing, the lawyer representing the accused completed the cross-questioning of Rohan Ovitigala, a bank officer attached to Bank of Ceylon's Parliament branch. He had been named as a witness by the prosecution in the case.
Charges have been levelled against Mr. Aluthgamage under section 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
