The Gazette notification dissolving the current term of Parliament has been sent to the Government Printer for publication, officials said.
With effect from Sunday midnight the President was vested with the powers to dissolve Parliament after it completed four and half years of its term.
Accordingly Parliament is to be dissolved with effect from midnight today.
The four and half years was taken into account from the date after the Parliament met for the first time after the elections. Parliament first met on September 1, 2015, after elections.
