The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) in a letter to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has condemned Health Ministry's decision to stop quarantining persons moving from district to districts and has requested that appropriate action be taken to repeal the directive.
In a circular no. EPID/400/2019NCOV of April 8, 2020 the government has decided to allow people to pass through district without undergoing any quarantine procedure.
The GMOA said that the decision taken can jeopardise the exit strategy adopted to fight the Covid 19 virus. Hitherto persons moving from district to district and provinces have been quarantined by the public health staff of those areas.
The GMOA said thst it has already forwarded it's exist strategy for these persons including sterilising and buffering contaminated persons and restricting movement within each zone and of closing borders. (Chrishanthi Christopher)
