Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said his lawyers are looking into dismiss the civil cases that were recently filed against him in the US.
Speaking to the press following his arrival at the airport this morning, Mr. Rajapaksa noted that while he was aware of the cases filed against him, he said that according to what he considers he has not been served summons in a proper manner.
Further he said the purpose of his visit to the US was to renounce his US citizenship and for which he successfully concluded the documentation and will now await a response.
Mr Rajapaksa claimed that the lawsuits which were filed against him were done so with purely political motives behind them.
In addition, he opined that these attempts had downgraded the image of the entire country and the services he rendered during his capacity as the Defence Secretary.
