Government Executive Officers representing 15 services have launched a token strike today (Feb 27) calling on the government to resolve the salary anomalies in their sector.
The strike action was launched after talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in this regard ended in a stalemate last night.
"This island-wide strike will commence from 8 am onwards today" Chairman of the Joint Committee of Government Executive Officers Dr. Nimal Karunasiri said.
Services such as engineering, agriculture, planning, and architecture will be affected due to the strike action that will conclude today.
The government executive officers said that they will resort to further trade union action if their issues are not resolved.
