Govt declares National Mourning today in view of funeral of Dr Lester James Peiris

The government declared today as National Mourning Day marking the passing away of iconic Sinhala cinema director late Dr. Lester James Peries, the Government Information department said. The funeral proceedings of veteran film Director Dr.Lester James Peries will be held at the Independence Square today at 4 p.m.

Internationally acclaimed cinematic genius late Dr. Lester James Peries passed away on Sunday night, while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo. He was 99.
